
The WWII Khaki Air Force Jacket
An original WWII RAF Airman's Khaki Drill Jacket in size No. 16, which has painstakingly undergone numerous hours of talented workmanship, in order to bring the piece back to its former glory.
Officially designated 'Frocks, Khaki Drill. Airmen.', this pattern of jacket was once worn by all members of the RAF up to the rank of Flight Sergeant throughout WW2.
Originally made from a khaki coloured cotton drill, over 7 hours of hard craft went into restoring this particular piece, including hand embroidered visible mends, discreet hand sewn mends and replacement buttons.
Features include pleated chest pockets with scalloped pocket flaps, lower pockets with large pocket flaps and notched lapels. The jacket is also equipped with newly replaced olive buttons that are all held in place by split rings, along with machine stitched tropical pattern RAF eagle badges to the top of each sleeve.
An original label is still present within the jacket. which states that the piece was produced in size No. 16, to fit a 37'' - 38" chest. The original contract number is also present, in addition to a WD acceptance stamp showcasing the iconic broad arrow, which is surmounted by the letter ‘P’, denoting 1941 as the year of issue.
The WWII Khaki Air Force Jacket will come presented with a Fox Brothers' certificate, detailing the in-house mends as part of our authentic reworked collection.
